The first new Champion of the year took his CCs at Crufts, the Southern WHWT Club show and the WHWT Club of England show; traditionally shows that attract larger than average entries. Lindenka Brannigan made his debut in late 1999, winning three BP awards, one at Crufts 2000. He took 3 reserve CCs in 2001 then two CCs including BOB at Crufts 2002. He becomes the fifth UK Champion for his owner and breeder, Marie Purchon and descends from the first two, Ch Lindenka Prim'n Proper and her dam, Ch Lasara Lindi at Lindenka. Brannigan is a grandson of Prim'n Proper through another daughter, Lindenka Zippitydoodah who is by a Lindi grandson, Lindenka Proper Cheeky. Brannigan is a son of Ch Krisma Streetwise becoming his first Champion after siring 12 BP winners (4 of them from Lindenka). Streetwise and Zippitydoodah are linked by Lasara breeding to 1986 Champion Lasara Love-All through his two Champion daughters, Hell Of A Girl and Lullaby (Lindi's dam). They are also linked by Ashgate breeding, the first common ancestor being UK/Spanish Ch Ashgate Sheigra.
Brannigan's litter sister, Brydeen was also a BP winner and another sister Caffrey, became an American Champion. A later litter produced another BP, Shannon.

In 2001 he won two reserve CCs and 2002 his first CC and three more reserves. 2003 became his most successful year, winning his second CC at the National Terrier then going BIS, the first Westie to do that since 1986. Rowan becomes the third Champion for his owners, after showing Ch Newtonglen Tymeshare of Karamynd and breeding Ch Karamynd Kasey Jones at Earlsdale, both made up in 2000. All three Champions are by Ch Rotella The Fezzant Plucka, also sire of Tymeshare's litter sister, Ch Newtonglen Dainty Girl. Rowan's offspring have done well this year, particularly Krisma Jammydodger who so far has won 5 Best Puppy awards, Reserve Best Puppy in show at the National Terrier, 3CCs and BOB, reserve CCs, a Terrier group third and first plus an all breeds reserve BIS. He sired two other BP winners to take the Top Sire title of 2003.

Champion Wistonant Cassie by Vallange
owners: Mr K & Mrs S Harris
breeders: Mr & Mrs Wogan
by Ch Vallange Lord Of Love
ex Wistonant Little Sadie
Champion Charosmack Clogs'n Togs
owners: Mr & Mrs Hurst
breeder: Mrs R Dunne
by Ch Charosmack Clog Dancer
ex Wee Hy Lynn's Cheerleader(imp)
Ch Charosmack Clogs'n Togs at Dilkhuish took his third CC & BOB at Richmond then later took Group#4. He took his first CC just over a year ago at Welsh Kennel Club and was BOB at Crufts this year. He becomes the first Champion for his owners, Alan and Sola Hurst and the third for his breeder, Roz Dunne whose previous Champions, Ch Olton Aye Cloudy Day at Charosmack and Ch Charosmack Clog Dancer, both met with success in the Terrier group.
Clogs'n Togs or Jake becomes the first Champion for his sire and dam, Clog Dancer and American import Wee-Hy-Lynns Cheerleader, the first ever US bred Westie to produce a UK. Clog Dancer has American links himself being the grandson of an American dog. He and Cheerleader are linked by an American Champion Holyroods Hotspur at O'Shelly Bay. The whole pedigree is some three quarters foreign breeding as Clog Dancers sire is a reserve CC winner imported from the Netherlands, Llasara All Rite at Charosmack.
Also taking a third CC at Richmond was Wistonant Cassie by Vallange. She made her debut in the summer of 2002, won a reserve as a junior later that year and all her CCs in 2003 with the extra bonus of Group#3 at Birmingham. She becomes the 14th UK Champion for the Vallange kennel of Keith and Shane Harris. Her elder sister, Ch Wistonant White Lily by Vallange was made up in late 2002. Both are by UK/American Ch Vallange Lord Of Love and out of Wistonant Little Sadie, bred by Mr & Mrs Wogan. Lord Of Love and Sadie are vaguely linked in their pedigrees by common ancestor Ch Haweswalton Mr Volvo, an influential son of Ch Domaroy Saracen, a former Top Westie in the late 70s who appears in the pedigree of every CC winner this year.
All but one of the 14 Vallange Champions descend from the successful pairing of Ch Ashgate Sinclair and Ashgate Bleaval of Fernforest, which produced 4 UK Champions and several other winners. Lord Of Love is by one of the Champions, Victorious and from a daughter of Vivacious who had another daughter who produced a Champion. Three other daughters of Sinclair and Bleaval have produced UK Champions.
An already successful year for the Krisma kennel was improved further in Belfast when the 16 month and 12 day old Krisma Jammydodger took his third CC. The most consistent winner of 2003 with only one class defeat this year, his three CCs have led to a Group#3, two Group#1s and a Reserve BIS, as well as 5 Best Puppy awards and 6 reserve CCs. He becomes the first Champion for his sire and dam, 2003 Champion Hopecharm Willie Makeit for Karamynd and Krisma Telling Tales. The pair are virtually unrelated, their first common relative is probably Ch Ashgate Sheigra who was made up in 1988, through her son Ch Ashgate Leckie and daughter Ashgate Braw Bricht Lass. Jammydodger is the 5th Champion for the Krismas descending from two previous winners: UK/Nordic/Int Ch Krisma City Slicker who is his great grandsire (through his 1st Champion son, Barwest Bee-Having), while City Slicker is a grandson of the first Champion, Ch Lasara Hell Of A Girl. Telling Tales is from Krisma Sloane Ranger, the litter sister of the 3rd title holder, Ch Krisma Streetwise, sire of 6 UK CC winners in 2003.
Willie Makeit and Jammydodger are the first father and son to gain Championships in the same year since 1987 when Champions Suebeck Peterlee and Peter Pan is Suebeck were

Brannigan's offspring made impact in 2003; daughter Ragus Winter Morning at Krisma won the reserve CC at Crufts with limited showing and Kimgarwyn Little Mo was Top Puppy.
At the last show of 2003 the 10th Champion of the year took her 3rd CC, becoming the 3rd UK Champion for her owner/breeder. Mrs Pat Barrell and sire, Ch Krisma Streetwise who was confirmed as the Top Terrier Stud Dog having sired 6 CC winners. Bed-Time Story won three BP awards in 2001 and three reserve CCs along the way to her title which was topped with a BOB at LKA.
She is the great granddaughter of the first Barwest Champion, Brierlow Bee Lucky at Barwest. Her uncle was the second, Bee-Having (he won the reserve CC at Crufts for the second time, then left for Denmark. He is the sire of a 2003 reserve CC winner and grandsire of Jammydodger). By Moonlight won a reserve CC herself and also produced a Canadian Champion in Bed-Time Story's litter. Another full sister, Bee A Sport produced 2003 Champion Krisma Cactus, also by Streetwise. All are by UK/Nordic/Int Ch Krisma City Slicker (Streetwise's half brother) ex Bee Lucky's daughter, Bee-Tween Friends, a daughter of CC winner Foreston Pimpernel.
