Over the years very few dogs bred overseas have made much impact on the Westie show scene. Read below about those that did:

German/Int/UK Ch Monsieur Aus Der Flerlage (Germany)
Brought to the UK by his owner, Bergit Zakschewski. he won his title here before going to America where he also won his title. Bergit later became successful handler, Bergit Coady-Kabel. Monsieur was a son of an exported Branston dog, Barnstormer and from a bitch with a Famecheck sire and Stoneygap dam.

Int/Nordic/UK Ch Tweed Tartan Caledonier (Sweden)
Bred and owned by Birgitta Hasselgren, he stayed over in the UK long enough to win his title and sire several key litters. He sired one UK Champion, Olac Moondream and Morenish Just William who himself sired 4 UK Champions. including 1985's Top Westie, Ch Clan Crinan. Caledonier also appears in the pedigree of Ch Olac Moon Pilot through his dam's line.

Ch Ariostea Pilgrim to Ashgate (Italy)
Perhaps the most successful imported dog and certainly Ashgate's biggest winner in the showring, Pilgrim was Top Westie in 2002, a Terrier Group winner, Top Terrier Stud Dog and currently sire of 8 UK Champions. He was bred in Italy by Dr E Giacomelli, by UK CC winner, Italian/Int Ch Wikeland Connor ex UK/Italian/Int Ch Ashgate Sonsie. In 2009, five out of the eight new Champions are his grandchildren and another is his great granddaughter.

Ch Ashgate U S Patriot (U S A)
Patriot is a Pilgrim grandson. His sire is well travelled too, going to Europe as a youngster and returning to gain a UK title, then went to America. Patriot's litter sister is American Ch Ashgate US Apple Of My Eye.

The first overseas bred Westie to come to the UK on the pet passport scheme won his title in 2007 after taking BOB at Crufts. Suzanne Birberg's Int/Nordic Ch Spoilt Brat du Moulin de Mac Gregor, lives in Sweden but was born in France at the kennels of Ruth O'Connor.
